The Sound is Buried Here

It's update time. So many cool things are coming together! In just under two weeks, Jonathan Thompson is giving the world premiere of my piece for oboe and marimba, TriptychI am SO grateful for all of the work that he and West Fox have put into this piece.

It's been SUCH a pleasure to work with a killer oboist such as Jonathan. I was able to have a rehearsal with them recently, and they really brought this piece to life. I wasn't so sure about how the flow and pacing would go in performance, but Jonathan and West really put the pieces together and gave this work a life I never knew it had.

In related news, I've got a few new pieces coming up soon that I will be excited to share soon, including a three movement Piano Trio for flute and clarinet that will be premiered early next year. Also on my list for new works is a piece for string trio and electronics. I don't have any performers or a premiere set for this piece yet, so if you're interested in a new work for string trio and electronics, please contact me and I would love to talk to you about it!

In equally musical news, mixing for an EP I produced with Mickey Matta is finishing up very soon, and I couldn't be more excited. I had such a great time working on this record with Mickey, and these songs are so FRESH in Mickey's own unique way. It's unlike anything he has done before, and the project forced me to approach producing from a whole new perspective. Keep an eye out for a release date!

I have many more things coming soon, including new recording projects for a couple pieces as well as new vocal music (!!!) with some FANTASTIC people. [Side note: I REALLY want to write some more choral music, so please someone ask me to write some choral music.] I'll be updating about all of this in due time, but for now I will leave you with a short electronic piece I wrote recently that fills me with nostalgia for some reason. Enjoy!
